Romance books are sometimes referred to as the 'porn' of female reading. I am not talking of the ones with explicit sex in them. It appears that for many women, they like to detach from the boredom of life, and maybe what they feel is a less than romantic marriage, to chill out and read about other people's love. Surely this must make some women feel even more dissatisfied with the 'real thing', just like men who escape into sexual porn.
By contrast there are just a small number of Christian novels that are thrillers or swash buckling tales that might appeal to men, if they were interested in fiction. I think men do read fiction. Tom Clancy's books are best sellers and in the secular world, big names dominate men's fiction.
There are fewer Christian men's fiction books. Perhaps Christian men read romances? Or maybe they don't read as much fiction as Christian women do?
Please tell me what you think? I want to know. What are favourite Christian fiction books that are currently popular? I know C.S. Lewis is prized, and Stephen Lawhead, by some. But are there books that are recent, that Christian men have enjoyed?
