Heaven is perfect, but could this mean that it has perfectly exciting encounters? That there will be mystery and tension and perfect stress followed by perfect relief? Surely this would be so?
Life takes on greater value when we see loss. And it is the reality of mortality that can make each day worth living. So, without the fear of death, and the possibility of harm, how could there be a driving force to live each eternal day with expectation and wonder?
What I do know is that there is no end to discovering the awe and mystery and magnificence of God. I think this is the excitement and the peace of eternity. I think our adventure will be to discover more and more of him and this will have no end. We can't see how this could be, because we are like earth worms, without the ability to perceive what we have never had the senses to experience.
We may have our earthly spiritual eyes opened through the grace of God, but it is a shadowy reality compared with the sight we will one day have, if we go to dwell with him forever. Ps 36:9
For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.
We drink at his fountain and know life. And in him we see and will see, as never before. This cannot be boring. This cannot be simply sitting on a cloud rearranging the folds in our white gowns... It has to be the perfect life that is the perfect adventure!
I hope I get to write when I am there. And all those unfinished books I have in my computer will have time to be written. That is a nice thought...
